Nathaniel Avins Accident Canal Fulton, OH Death: Man Dies After Motorcycle Crash in Medina County, Ohio

A 28-year-old Canal Fulton man died Wednesday after his motorcycle collided with a minivan at an intersection in Granger Township, according to the Medina County Sheriff’s Office.

Nathaniel Avins was seriously injured in the crash, which occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the intersection of State Route 18 and Dunsha Road. Despite efforts to save his life, Avins later died at Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital, where he had been transported following the collision.

Investigators said Avins was riding a 2003 Suzuki Hayabusa when it collided with a 2021 Toyota Sienna. The minivan was being driven by 44-year-old Edward Uland of Valley City.

Uland was also transported to Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital following the crash. His injuries were described as minor, and he was treated and later released.

According to the preliminary investigation, Uland was attempting to turn east from Dunsha Road onto State Route 18 when he failed to yield to oncoming traffic. The maneuver resulted in the collision with Avins’ motorcycle. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and have not indicated that the preliminary findings represent a final determination.

Officials said Avins was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Investigators also reported that alcohol and drugs are not suspected of contributing to the crash.

Emergency crews from the Granger Fire Department and Sharon Fire Department responded to the scene and assisted with the emergency response. The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Medina Post also provided assistance as authorities investigated the collision and managed the area.

Avins’ death has left family members, friends and others in the Canal Fulton community mourning the sudden loss of a young man whose life was tragically cut short. His death serves as another painful reminder of how quickly a roadway collision can change the lives of everyone involved.
